A photograph of Thích Quảng Đức's self–immolation protest, taken by Associated Press correspondent Malcolm Browne, is said to have persuaded US President John F. Kennedy to withdraw support for President Ngô Đình Diệm's government. It was used by the American rock band Rage Against the Machine on the cover of their eponymous debut studio album, released in 1992.
